Danni grew up in Kansas with her seven brothers. She was very competitive and was involved in basketball, cross country and track in her local high school. In her first year she set a track record for the two mile relay that to this day remains unbroken.
She represented Kansas in the Miss Teen Pageant in 1992 and later in 1996 at the Miss USA Pageant, where she was the first runner up. At the age of 17 she appeared on Star Search in the Spokes model category and was the youngest contestant to ever compete. She has also been voted one of the "100 Most Beautiful Women".
