Gary grew up in Michigan and later attended Central Michigan University. While there he was quarterback of the football team and was eventually drafted to play professional football in the NFL.

He played in the NFL for 6 years with the Dallas Cowboys three years with the Baltimore Colts, one year with both the Phoenix Cardinals and Washington Redskins

Once he retired from the NFL Gary became involved in real estate development and landscaping. He still loves football and continues to be active in the sport coaching a local high school football team. He also is involved in coaching basketball tennis and soccer.
